Create opportunity for
Thriving colleges around the nation dedicate resources to finance merit-based scholarships, as well as institutional aid, for deserving students who demonstrate significant financial need. Many of our current students would not have the ability to attend Marietta without scholarship assistance.
To attract and retain future generations of Pioneers, we must continue to expand our endowed scholarship resources. A permanent endowment is an invested pool of money that provides a reliable source of income in perpetuity, growing over time through additional gifts and reinvestment. As the endowment increases, the funds available increase, thus enabling Marietta College to continue delivering a world-class education for our students.
What is an Endowment?
An endowment creates an ongoing source of income.
Because a permanent endowment is an invested pool of money that provides a reliable source of income in perpetuity, the organization can count on annual endowment distributions for its charitable work. The endowment also grows over time with additional gifts from multiple donors.
Donors can establish a new fund or donate to an existing endowment to support the academic areas, programs, faculty and students they hold most dear. Endowed gifts provide income over time. The intention of the College is to use a part of the earnings each year to fund donor specified purpose(s) each year. Remaining earnings are continually reinvested, growing the endowment each year.
By establishing an endowed scholarship, you are putting a Marietta education within reach for generations of Pioneers and helping us prepare them for a lifetime of success. Your gifts to support scholarships transform students’ lives so they can impact the world. Approximately 97 percent of students receive financial aid at Marietta College. When our endowment goal is reached it will provide an additional $1.7 million per year for scholarships.

Merit Based Scholarships
The world needs Pioneers.
Bold thinkers ready to confront any challenge. Independent spirits who can inspire and lead others on the journey to a promising future.
Merit-based scholarships will support Marietta students who excelled academically in high school. Name the scholarship for you, your family, favorite professor or a loved one and our students will always know who is helping them achieve their academic goals.
It takes all of us to prepare the next generation that will go forth from Marietta. Some of those future Pioneers need more financial assistance than others. Increasing the endowment for student aid will provide even greater financial assistance to our students who are committed to completing their academic degrees at one of the nation’s top liberal arts colleges.
Merit and Institutional Aid areas can include:
Aligning with the College’s strategic priorities, scholarships in this area will improve the Business programs and maximize the partnership with the Bernard P. McDonough Center for Leadership and Business.
Focused on increasing our female scholars on campus.
A program that will form a cohort for top students which will include merit scholarships with programming and opportunities for interaction with alumni, donors and other guests of the President.
Increasing scholarships for students that may include internships, training, etc.
IT TAKES ALL OF US TO PREPARE
The next generation that will go forth from Marietta
Your gift of $100,000 or more will propel students into the frontiers of the future.
Reminiscing on how the Rickey Scholarship has positively influenced my Marietta experience is fascinating; I realize how it completely changed the course of my life. I am very grateful for the scholarship, since it is the main reason I was able to afford to attend Marietta.
