Kyla Andreas sits down with Abby May to get a student's perspective on plans for the new student center.

Hello Pios!

As the semester wraps up and finals are among us, I’m so excited to be going home to see my family and friends and get some well needed relaxation time in.

But before I depart for break, I wanted to talk to you all about the new student center and how that fits into “This is the Time” campaign. Starting in the fall of 2022, a new student center will be in the beginning phases of construction. The construction of the building will last for a couple years and is expected to be fully operational in the fall of 2024. The student center will be located where Gilman is currently and will have a dining hall, career center, study rooms, common areas and more! The campaign is looking to raise $20 million for the student center, as well as $3 million to support other student engagement projects.

In order to give you all a student perspective on how this new building will affect Marietta College students, I interviewed my friend Abby May. Abby is super excited about the new student center and feels that students would get a lot of use out of everything it has to offer. She thinks a new student center would be beneficial for Pioneers because it would provide more spaces for studying, allow students to meet new people, and let students feel more connected to campus.
