Kyla celebrates Student Engagement and the start of a new semester!

Hello Pios!

After spending a couple months catching up with family and friends, I finally had to say “goodbye” to my hometown and “hello” to Marietta for the spring semester. I’m really excited to be back making videos and bringing you along on my college journey!

This week’s video theme is all about the Student Engagement portion of the This Is The Time Campaign. For this section, the college is hoping to raise $23 million. The money will be going into a new student center and will update and improve upon the current Academic Resource Center and athletic facilities.

As someone who is a part of clubs, honor societies, and collegiate level athletics, I have always found it important that I try to balance my athletics with my academics. Being an athlete can be very stressful at times, like when I had a playoff game the same week as finals week, but at the same time it is rewarding and fun! One thing that makes being an athlete at MC special is the amount of support we get from not only the community, but the alumni too. This campaign is looking to renovate locker rooms, upgrade fields, provide coaches with new technology, and more! This makes game day even more special for us Pioneers.

Although I love being an athlete, my academics come first. By renovating and expanding the Academic Resource Center, the college is making sure I stay on track with my academics. The ARC is already very helpful and I have used it in the past, but improving the space will be very beneficial to not only me, but other students too!

I’m really happy to be back at Marietta and can’t wait to take on the challenges this semester has to offer. If you want to stay connected to MC, make sure you check out the college’s Day of Giving beginning at 12:00PM on February 14th!
